‘Spark’
Creative Visionary and Multi-Faceted Entrepreneur, Producer and Artist in Music, Media, Fashion and Merchandising.
This is the background story of Mark Davidson
best known as ‘Spark’...
A creative entrepreneur who never stops, and whose well known mottos of over 30 years are now more relevant than ever before:
‘ It’s Time to wake up!…We don’t’ stop … We don’t’ sleep”
In 1971, at four years of age, Spark’s biggest dream was to fly airplanes and to also become a member of the famous family singing group, ‘The Jackson 5’. Although born in Montreal, Spark took advantage of his dual citizenship and joined the U.S. Airforce at eighteen where he took his first flying lesson and was given his call sign name, ‘Spark’. After the US Airforce, ‘Spark’ pursued becoming a music producer and rap artist.
In 1995, Spark (at 28), launched his professional music career and began to manage to groups including his own R&B recording group called, ‘Portfolio’ which included three of Montreal’s most accomplished singers, Alan Prater, Chris Millington, and Danny Blanco and within a year Portfolio successfully sold out their performance shows. After Spark’s negotiations of Portfolio’s publishing and recording contracts in Montreal and Los Angeles, his own ‘4indamorning’ recording music production label was launched and ‘4indamorning’ became a household name in Montreal.
In 2000, Spark (at 33) was one of the first to sport a mohawk and the I’m not a Rapper’ tattoo. He also created his own reality show titled, ‘Spark’s World’ which featured his lavish L.A lifestyle and his passion to fly airplanes, for he became a licensed pilot simultaneously in two countries, Los Angeles, USA, and in Montreal, Canada.
When Spark heard of Lenard Clark, a black youth being very badly beaten by four white boys in Chicago, Spark recorded and featured 12 local Rap-Hip Hop artists on an album to financially help Lenard’s huge medical bills. This generosity made Chicago’s mainstream news on television stations ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN, and locally in Montreal on CTV, CBC and it was also featured on the front page of the ‘Montreal Gazette’ and ‘La Presse’ newspapers.
Spark’s Hip Hop documentaries, ‘What it takes’ and ‘Streets is Talkin’ Vol. Los Angeles” propelled his success and popularity in LA’s street Hip Hop community, and with his charm, gift of gab, sales ability and business savvy, Spark successfully promoted ‘Fones4all’, a telecommunications and network marketing company from which he opened 5 offices, hired hundreds of youth (including homeless who became financially secure). Marking the success of his company ‘Fones4all’, Spark garnered the Los Angeles ‘Start up Business of the Year’ award in 2006 and 2007.
